Most people know that the aluminum can is the most valuable container to recycle. The reason: aluminum is among the most energy-intensive materials to produce – so much so, that aluminum is sometimes nicknamed "solidified electricity." All that energy has to come from somewhere, and generally it comes from coal- and oil-fired power plants that spew carbon dioxide, not to mention noxious and health-threatening gases and particles.

Recycling cans is among the most positive things that can be done to protect the environment, and Pacific Precision Metals is doing its part. We understand that the most discouraging part of recycling is the fact that cans just take up a lot of space – they’re difficult to bag, carry and deposit at a recycling facility. Back in 1983, Pacific Precision Metals came up with an innovative solution: a simple lever device that compacts cans to minimum size for transport and deposit. We call it The Crusher™, and it’s still the runaway market leader in its category. You’ll find it at many hardware retail chains.

Aluminum cans are worth money, which makes recycling them a case in which doing the right thing can also generate hard cash. Programs such as Cans for Habitat, run by Habitat for Humanity, already sponsor aluminum can recycling as a revenue source. At the local level, charitable organizations, municipalities, and schools are also finding that can collection drives using The Crusher ™ can help pay for group trips and support worthwhile projects.
